Control Your Flyaways

Control Your Flyaways

Ugh, those pesky baby hairs. As the weather begins to cool down, the weather likes to tickle our flyaways out of control. And we don’t want to wear beanies all winter to hide them.

So before you take clippers and cut your flyaways down to the root, let’s take a look at some ways to get your crazy little hairs to stay right where you want them.

Why Does Our Hair Fly Away in the First Place?

There are various reasons why you might experience flyaway hair other than a strong gust of wind or walking in front of a leaf blower. Flyaways can be caused by:

  • Product build-up from not properly cleaning and moisturising your scalp
  • Chemical damage from too many treatments
  • Dry strands, split ends, and hair breakage
  • Static (like rubbing your head with a balloon)
  • Humidity, our hair’s worst nemesis
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding might cause flyaways to appear

Now that we know the culprits behind flyaways, let’s cut to the chase and talk about how to make them relax.

Swap Out Your Shampoo and Conditioner

Since dry hair is more prone to flyaways, it’s essential to make sure your hair stays hydrated. Smoothing shampoo and conditioners are chock-full of anti-frizz ingredients and can help your hair relax.

Beware of How You Dry Your Hair

And we don’t just mean with your blowdryer. When you get out of the shower, you probably reach for that thick, fluffy towel and rub your hair to get out some of the moisture. This is a big no-no and can directly lead to breakage and flyaways. Your hair is the most vulnerable when it’s wet, so you want to avoid abrasive action right after a wash.

If you want to continue using a regular towel, we recommend squeezing your hair to remove the water. Instead of rubbing the flat surface of the towel against your wet hair, wrap the towel around your strands of hair and gently press.

If you’re open to the idea of trying something else in place of a towel, a microfiber cloth or a soft, unembellished cotton t-shirt have proven to be effective at removing water without breaking your hair.

Switch From a Brush to a Wide-Tooth Comb

Speaking of wet hair, trying to brush your hair when it’s tangled and damp can lead to breakage and frizz. Instead of using a brush before your hair is dry, use a wide-tooth comb to work through those knots. Start working through your hair at the tips and make your way up to the roots.

When your hair is dry, a regular brush can help distribute the natural oils from your scalp to the rest of your hair. But to prevent static, you should use a brush with tourmaline ion technology if you can.

Use a Heat-Protecting Spray Before You Use Heated Tools

We know we aren’t gonna convince you to throw out your straightener or curling iron, but we urge you to protect your hair from the heat. The best way to do this? Use a heat-protectant spray to keep hot air from damaging your locks.

Bonus points: use a light oil to restore some hydration to your hair after you finish styling it.

The Finishing Stick

You’ve tried everything, but you’ve still got those flyaways. It’s not your fault; some hair is just stubborn like that. That’s why we created our Flyaway and Brow Control Finishing Stick. Flyaways are no match for our special formula concocted with biotin, jojoba, camellia, and vitamin E.

The Finishing Stick tames flyaways and has the strength to hold them where you want them all day. The best part? It doesn’t make your hair flaky or crusty as hairspray would. It gives you the sleek hairstyle you’re dreaming of while conditioning your baby hairs and smelling great.

The best part? You can use it to get that perfect brow shape all day, every day.

We promise the ANSWR Flyaway Control will be the biggest weapon in your arsenal in the battle against baby hairs.
